Cocoamidopropyl Betaine has been widely used in cosmetics, toiletries and cleaning products, mainly because of its foaming, thickening and emollient (skin irritation reduction) capabilities.
Its toxicity is so low that it is commonly applied in oral hygiene products. It allows the formulation to thicken, reducing the amount of electrolytes needed for viscosity adjustment. In addition, it increases the foaming power of anionic surfactants, providing a richer and creamier foam, highly desirable in various formulations, especially in the formulation of liquid detergents for hand dishwashing, liquid soaps and shampoos.
Cocoamidopropyl Betaine has synergy with several surfactants, including Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, and Sulphonic Acid, and is normally used in dosages ranging 0.5 to 5.0%.
