Povinyl alcohol of high viscosity and medium hydrolysis is indicated as a stabilizer for vinyl acetate, polystyrene, and polyvinyl chloride emulsions. It is also used as a rheumectant agent for adhesives, temporary glue for ceramics, water-soluble films, adhesives for paper, and cold-water soluble films.

It is also used as an additive in photosensitive paints, adhesive for grout and textures, anti-resetting agent for various types of dirt, and auxiliary thickening agent for electrolytes in sanitizing products based on dodecyl benzene sulfonic acid.
